Black & Gold to unveil and gift special championship ring to First Team players and staff, commemorating the Club’s 2020 title
June 10, 2021
COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew today is set to unveil its special championship ring to commemorate the Crew’s 2020 MLS Cup. Tonight, in a private event, First Team players and technical staff will partake in a ring ceremony and red-carpet gala and will be joined by representatives from the Club’s investor-operators: Haslam, Johnson and Edwards families as well as Columbus Crew executives.
In 2020, the Crew compiled a regular-season record of 12-6-5, including a 9-1-0 record at Historic Crew Stadium to reach the 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. During the playoffs, the Black & Gold defeated the New York Red Bulls 3-2 (November 21), Nashville SC 2-0 (November 29) and the New England Revolution 1-0 (December 6) before beating Seattle Sounders to win the Club’s second MLS Cup. The Crew’s 3-0 victory marked the largest margin of victory in MLS Cup history, with midfielder Lucas Zelarayan scoring two goals and providing one assist en route to claiming the 2020 MLS Cup MVP award.
