Chicago White Sox announce four roster moves

CHICAGO – Prior to Thursday night’s series opener vs. Baltimore, the Chicago White Sox announced the following four roster moves:

· Placed RHP Michael Kopech on the Bereavement List;

· Purchased the contract of RHP Ryan Burr from Class AAA Charlotte;

· Transferred OF Luis Robert to the 60-day injured list;

· Sent LHP Jace Fry on an injury rehabilitation assignment to Charlotte.

Burr, 26, is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA (4 ER/6.2 IP), nine strikeouts and two saves over eight relief appearances with Charlotte this season. Burr, who will turn 27 tomorrow, spent the entire 2020 season at the Schaumburg training facility. He is 1-1 with a 5.52 ERA (18 ER/29.1 IP) and 26 strikeouts in 24 career appearances (one start) over two seasons (2018-19) with the White Sox.

Kopech, 25, is 2-0 with a 1.78 ERA (6 ER/30.1 IP), two holds, 45 strikeouts (13.35 per 9.0 IP), a .180 (20-111) opponents average and in 13 games (three starts) this season. He has worked 2.0-plus IP in six of his 10 relief appearances. Under Major League Baseball rules, Kopech must remain on the Bereavement List for a minimum of three days and not more than seven.

Robert, 23, has been on the injured list since May 4 with a Grade 3 strain of his right hip flexor suffered while running to first base on May 2 vs. Cleveland. Robert is hitting .316 (30-95) with nine doubles, one triple, one home run and eight RBI in 25 games this season.

Fry, 27, has been on the injured list since April 1 (retroactive to March 29) to recover from an offseason microdiscectomy. He went 0-1 with a 3.66 ERA (8 ER/19.2 IP) and 24 strikeouts over 18 relief appearances last season.

Following the moves, the White Sox 40-man roster remains at 40.
