NHL fines Carolina’s Jordan Staal for dangerous trip

NEW YORK (May 22, 2021) –Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for a dangerous trip against Nashville Predators forward Luke Kunin during Game 3 of the teams’ First Round series in Nashville on Friday, May 21, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 13:56 of the second period. Staal was assessed a minor penalty for tripping.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
