NHL News: Eight Players Advance to 2021 NHL Gaming World Championship: European Final

North American Club Championship Continues May 22 with Discover NHL Central Division Play-In and MassMutual NHL East Division Club Final

NEW YORK (May 18, 2021) – The 2021 NHL Gaming World Championship™, featuring the best EA SPORTS™ NHL® 21 players, continued this past weekend with eight players advancing to the European Final. The North American Club Championship also continues on May 22 with Club play for the Discover NHL® Central Division Play-In and the MassMutual NHL® East Division Club Final.

Beginning with the first of the North American Club Finals on May 22, all matches will be streamed live on the NHL’s Twitch channel beginning at 12 p.m. ET. The NHL’s digital platforms will also carry highlights with cut-down versions distributed by NHL global broadcast partners – NBC Sports in the U.S., Sportsnet in Canada and Viaplay and NENT Group in Europe.

EUROPEAN PLAY-IN RESULTS

The European Play-In took place on May 8 and 15. All matches were single elimination, best-of-three games producing four Xbox and four PS4 qualifiers. Full bracket results can be viewed at the below links.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The European Final will be streamed live on Twitch on Saturday, June 19, beginning at 11 a.m. ET. The following players have advanced to the Final round after winning their series this past weekend:

NORTH AMERICAN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

The Club Finals and Club Championship are aligned under the 2020-21 NHL season Divisions. The eight players who represent each NHL Club face off to determine the one player to represent that NHL Club in the Club Championship. All 32 Club Final winners then move on to compete in the Club Championship bracket. The four Divisional winners then will compete to crown the 2021 Champion for the North American region.
