Ohio State Women’s Rowing gets 21st NCAA bid

Buckeyes will travel to Sarasota, Florida, May 28-30 for 2021 NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rowing team is set to make its 21st appearance at the NCAA Championships May 28-30 after securing one of 12 at-large bids Tuesday. The Buckeyes are one of four Big Ten teams to compete in the 2021 Championships that will be held in Sarasota, Florida.

Ohio State’s First Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight boats are seeded No. 6. The First Varsity Eight is seeded No. 7.

The Buckeyes are one of 22 teams who will compete at the championships. Each school will field two eight boats and one four boat for the championship event.

BUCKEYES IN THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Ohio State comes into the championships having competed in 20 of the last 22 NCAA championships all-time. The team owns seven individual titles and has finished in the Top-10 a total of 18 times.

The Buckeyes won NCAA national titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The team finished second in 2016 and owns one third (2007) and two fourth-place (2001, 2005) finishes.

In 2019, the last NCAA Championship held in rowing, the Buckeyes finished fifth overall. The First Varsity Four finished fifth. The First Varsity Eight finished sixth overall and the Second Varsity Eight finished fifth.

The Buckeyes finished second at the 2021 Big Ten Championships with a total of 158 points. The Second Novice Eight won the conference title, while five of the six other Buckeye crews all finished in the top three of their respective races. For more click HERE.
