NHL suspends Flyers’ Gostisbehere two games for Boarding

NEW YORK (May 5, 2021) – Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere has been suspended for two games, without pay, for boarding Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Mark Friedman during NHL Game No. 826 in Philadelphia on Tuesday, May 4, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 15:53 of the third period. Gostisbehere was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Gostisbehere will forfeit $77,586.20. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
