NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman issues Statement on Death of Byron Seaman

NEW YORK (April 29, 2021) – National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman today released the following statement on the passing of former Calgary Flames owner Byron Seaman:

“The National Hockey League family mourns the passing of Byron Seaman. From the instrumental role that he played in bringing NHL hockey to his beloved city in 1980, through the ensuing 30 years, Byron left an indelible mark on not only the Flames but the entire NHL. Through his commitment and passion for giving back to his community, he contributed greatly to the city of Calgary. The NHL has lost a dear friend.”
