Texas Rangers make roster moves 4/25/21

CHICAGO — The Texas Rangers announced prior to Sunday’s game against the Chicago White Sox that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Sborz (pronounced “spores”) from the Alternate Training Site and placed right-handed pitcher Kyle Cody on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 24, with right shoulder inflammation.

Sborz has been with the club on this road trip as a member of the taxi squad and will be available out of the bullpen for today’s series finale. The right-hander has gone 1-1 with a 7.20 ERA (4 ER/5.0 IP) over 6 relief appearances with the Rangers this season after being acquired in a February 16 trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He recorded his first Major League win in the club’s extra-inning victory on April 15 at Tampa Bay.

Cody has an 0-2 record and 7.94 ERA (10 ER/11.1 IP) in 7 relief appearances this season, his second straight year to see Major League action with the Rangers.

Following today’s transactions, the Rangers’ Major League roster remains at the 40-man limit, along with three players on the 60-day Injured List: pitchers Matt Bush, Jonathan Hernández, and José Leclerc.
