4/26/21

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Oakland A’s reinstated right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers from the injured list and optioned left-handed pitcher Adam Kolarek to their alternate site, the club announced today.

Fiers began the season on the IL with a lumbar strain and did not pitch during the spring. He re-signed with Oakland as a free agent on Feb. 16 after going 6-3 with a 4.58 ERA in 11 starts in 2020. Fiers led the A’s in wins last year and is now 26-9 with a 4.00 ERA in 54 games, including 53 starts, as an Athletic.

Kolarek was on the A’s Opening Day roster and compiled an 8.44 ERA in eight relief appearances. He allowed a .308 opponents batting average and yielded two home runs in 5.1 innings. Kolarek will remain with the club for the rest of the road trip as part of the taxi squad.
