INDIANAPOLIS – Winners of its last 10 games, the University of Houston Men’s Basketball program will face No. 12 seed Oregon State at 6:15 p.m. (CDT) Monday on the Equality Court inside Lucas Oil Stadium in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight.

The sixth-ranked Cougars earned their ticket to the Elite Eight with a 62-46 win over (11) Syracuse on Saturday night inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. Allowing only 46 points and 28.0 field goal percentage shooting (14-of-50), the Houston defense set school records in NCAA Tournament play.

Senior forward Justin Gorham scored 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, including four offensive boards, for his team-leading eighth double-double of the season.

Junior All-American guard Quentin Grimes led all players with 14 points and four 3-pointers, while sophomore guard Marcus Sasser totaled 12 points with a game-high four steals.

Monday’s game will be only the third time Houston has faced Oregon State and the first time since a 49-45 loss in the CBI First Round in Corvallis, Ore., on March 18, 2009. The Beavers hold a 2-0 lead in the all-time series against the Cougars.
