Collection of themed events, fundraisers throughout March encourage sustainable methods

COLUMBUS, OH — The Columbus Blue Jackets invite fans to join the club in promoting environmental sustainability with a host of themed events and fundraisers in March as the club celebrates Green Month, presented by Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc.  The month-long activities will be highlighted by Green Night, also presented by ADS, when the Blue Jackets host the Florida Panthers on Thursday, March 11 with puck drop slated for 7 p.m. ET at Nationwide Arena.

During pregame warmups on March 11, Blue Jackets players will wear green jerseys and use Official Green Night Warmup Pucks.  In recognition of Green Month, the Blue Jackets Foundation will raffle off the complete set of authentic, individually autographed jerseys.  Raffle sales for the jerseys open on Tuesday, March 9 and will conclude at 11 p.m. ET on Monday, March 15.  In addition to the jersey auction, a limited number of pucks used during warmups will be on sale online for $45 each.  To purchase raffle tickets for $10, bid on select player jerseys and purchase pucks, fans can text CBJAUCTION to 76278 or visit cbjauction.givesmart.com.

The Foundation will also host a 50/50 Raffle, presented by KEMBA Financial Credit Union, with 50 percent of the proceeds benefiting the CBJ Foundation and 50 percent going to the winner.  Fans can visit www.bluejackets.com/5050raffle to purchase tickets.  Age and location restrictions apply.  The 50/50 Raffle opens on Tuesday, March 9 and closes at 11pm ET on Thursday, March 11.

Proceeds from all Foundation fundraising during Green Night will benefit CBJ Foundation parks beautification and playground build initiatives.  The CBJ Foundation has funded 11 playgrounds across central Ohio.  In 2016, the Foundation partnered with Columbus Recreation and Parks Department to fund and build eight playgrounds.  The goal of this project is to support the city’s plan to build a playground within one-half mile of all homes in Columbus.  The final playground in that commitment will be completed this year.

During March, the Blue Jackets are headlining a pair of recycling initiatives in which fans are encouraged to participate. Items featured in game day silent auctions will be centered around recycled hockey-themed items such as game-used hockey equipment and upcycled hockey sticks made into bottle openers, lamps, tables, benches and more.  Recycling these items and finding new users for them will keep them out of a landfill.  Fans can text CBJAUCTION to 76278 or visit cbjauction.givesmart.com to bid on items.

Throughout the month, in partnership with the OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks, fans can donate new or gently used hockey equipment to any Chiller rink location through the Recycle the Game equipment collection, presented by ADS.  Donated equipment is sold at the annual CBJ Foundation Equipment Sale held in the fall to help reduce the cost of equipment and remove barriers to the game.

As a presenting partner of Between the Pipes, ADS has donated $5 for every regulation and overtime save and $10 for every shootout save made by a Blue Jackets goaltender this season to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation.  During the month of March, ADS is doubling its donations, contributing $10 for every regulation/overtime save and $20 for every shootout save made.
