Cleveland Indians finalize 2020 MLB Coaching Staff; DeMarlo Hale Named Bench Coach

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 2021 Major League Coaching Staff:

Named DeMarlo Hale Major League Bench Coach.

Hale, 59, joins the Cleveland staff after spending the last two seasons in the Atlanta Braves organization, spending 2019 in Player Development and 2020 as the interim First Base Coach for the 2020 NL East champions. The Chicago native was a member of Terry Francona’s Boston Red Sox staff for six seasons (2006-2011), serving as his Bench Coach during the 2010 and 2011 campaigns. The upcoming 2021 season will mark his 19th season on a Major League coaching staff, previously working with the Texas Rangers (’02-’05), Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles (’12), Toronto Blue Jays (’13-’18) and Braves.

The remainder of Francona’s staff returns to their designated roles entering the 2020 season. Brad Mills will remain in the organization in a yet to be determined capacity.
