HARRISON, N.J. (November 19, 2020) – The New York Red Bulls (9-9-5) enter the Audi 2020 MLS Playoffs as the sixth seed and travel to third-seeded Columbus Crew SC (12-6-5) for a Round One match on Saturday. Kickoff at MAPFRE Stadium is set for 3 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, UniMas, TUDN and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn in English and Spanish.

New York will compete for the MLS Cup for the 21st time in franchise history, owning a 19-27-8 all-time mark. As the sixth seed, the Red Bulls travel to Columbus for the fifth time in search for their first win at Crew SC in the playoffs. New York has been held scoreless the last two trips to MAPFRE stadium, but recently took the last two-legged playoff series in 2018 with a 3-1 aggregate.

Daniel Royer heads into Saturday’s playoff match as the franchise’s active leader in games played (9), goals (4) and assists (5). Royer’s four playoff goals ranks third at New York behind Adolfo Valencia (5) and Bradley Wright-Phillips (9). The Austrian midfielder’s five career playoff assists sit second on the franchise’s all-time list behind Thierry Henry’s seven MLS playoff assists.

Yonkers native Ryan Meara will appear in his first MLS playoffs since being drafted by the club in 2012. Despite no MLS playoff appearances since arriving in New York, Meara has experience in one-and-done formats, both in USL and Open Cup. He has recorded a 8-6-3 combined record, seven clean sheets and three penalty kick saves in USL playoffs and Open Cup matches, including a 2016 USL Cup Title and a 2017 U.S. Open Cup Finals appearance.

Winner of Saturday’s match will face off against the Round One winner between second-seeded Toronto FC and the higher seeded play-in winner on Sunday, November 29.
